FCC Adult Education Program Best in Maryland for Job Attainment
06/26/2015
Frederick Community College has the top-ranked Adult Education program for helping students secure employment.

A recent report released from Division of Workforce Development and Adult Learning at the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation looked at post-program employment figures for students enrolled in the 26 adult education programs in Maryland. It found that FCC has the greatest success in helping unemployed students obtain employment.

“Our adult education programs empower adult learners by providing them with the tools and knowledge they need to succeed in the workforce,” said Kimberly Duncan, Director of Adult Basic Education. “We are proud that our program is the top-rated for employment, and we will continue to find new ways to help our students achieve their professional goals.”

The FCC Adult Education program is designed for adult learners of all ages and offers math, reading, writing, and English courses. The program includes adult basic education, English as a Second Language, GED® test preparation, and the National External Diploma Program (NEDP).

Assisting students with finding employment is one of the priorities of the adult education program. As part of that mission, FCC has teamed up with Goodwill Monocacy Valley, which provides its job readiness program, Steps to Success, on campus twice a week.

The program sessions are free and open to any student who wants assistance in finding a job. During the sessions, a Goodwill employment specialist is available to help students create and update resumes, search for jobs, prepare for interviews, complete online job applications, and assist with any other job readiness needs.
