FCC Holding Annual Concert to Benefit Breast Cancer Resource Center
03/25/2015
Frederick Community College will hold the 12th annual Op to Pop concert this weekend to benefit the Anne-Lynn Gross Breast Cancer Resource Center and scholarship.

The concert will take place at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 29 in the Jack B. Kussmaul Theater. It will feature local musicians including the Frederick Chorale and the Howard Burns Trio.

“The Anne-Lynn Gross Breast Cancer Resource Center provides support to students and community members so they can make proactive choices for breast cancer detection and treatment,” said Janice Brown, Director of the Office of Adult Services. “This annual concert provides an exciting way for community members to support the center.”

The resource center, located on campus, provides information, resources, and referrals about early detection of breast cancer, conventional and alternative treatment, aftercare, and nutrition.  It also sponsors a support group for breast cancer survivors.

Proceeds from the event will fund a scholarship for a student who has been diagnosed and treated for cancer and will help the center continue to offer updated resources and information.

Anne-Lynn Gross established the resource center in 2001 with the assistance of the Women’s Center and the FCC Foundation, Inc.  As a cancer survivor herself, she wanted to share what she had learned to help others in their quest for information.

Tickets for the concert are $10 for general admission and $8 for seniors and students. Tickets can be purchased at the box office before the concert.
