05/21/2015
Frederick Community College held its Visual Arts Department Spring Student Juried Show on Monday, May 11.

The show featured more than 100 pieces of student artwork produced in FCC visual arts classes. The 35th edition of the Tuscarora Review, the FCC creative arts magazine, was also unveiled during the show.

“We have been extremely impressed with all the great artwork our students have created this semester,” said Wendell Poindexter, Arts Center Director. “This event was a great opportunity for our College and community to come together to enjoy that artwork and celebrate these talented and dedicated students.”

Mediums included drawing, painting, photography, ceramics, sculpture, 2D art and design, watercolor, illustration, digital photography, and computer graphics.

Each medium was judged separately and prizes were awarded for first place, second place, and honorable mention. The top award was the Judge’s Choice, which recognizes the best piece in the entire show. The award went to Julia Kulina this semester.

Judging was conducted by Adam Leviton who is a graphic designer and teaches at FCC, Hood College, and Shepherd University.

The show was held in the Mary Condon Hodgson Art Gallery, located inside the Visual and Performing Arts Center.

The artwork will remain on display until June 3.
