Moving Mountains Speaker Series Continues with PR Specialist and Emmy Award Winning Journalist
11/19/2015
As part of the ongoing Moving Mountains speaker series, Frederick Community College will welcome public relations specialist and Emmy award winning journalist Sherrie Johnson to campus on Jan. 20.

The monthly series is designed to encourage teens and young adults to set the bar high in their professional choices, finances, relationships, and life ambitions. Each month, exceptional professionals share their stories and encourage teens to reach their potential.

The six-part series runs through April 2016 and features a half hour to 40-minute presentation, followed by a question and answer session. In this first year of the series, topics by presenters will include keys to succeeding in life, expecting and overcoming obstacles, believing in yourself, following your passion, and transitioning into your career.

Johnson is the third speaker in the series and will discuss professional transitions and finding your niche. She is the public information officer for Prince George’s County Public Schools in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.  Previously, she was the director of communications for the Harford County Council and spokesperson for the Harford County Executive.

Johnson is a Baltimore based former television reporter/anchor and Emmy award winning journalist.  Her career has carried her to five markets including local and national TV affiliates.

Past Moving Mountain series speakers include Tony Checchia, owner of Frederick Indoor Sports Center, and State’s Attorney Charlie Smith.

Upcoming speakers include Julie Gaver (Feb. 3), Bob Viti (March 2), and Matthew Lesko (April 13).
All events are held from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Jack B. Kussmaul Theater, located in the Visual and Performing Arts Center. They are free and open to the public.
