New Cybersecurity Program Coming to FCC This Fall
08/10/2015
Frederick Community College is launching a new cybersecurity program that will prepare students for careers in a number of in-demand cybersecurity capacities.

The Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Cybersecurity will begin this fall. The 60-credit program can be completed in as little as two years and prepares graduates to serve in roles such as a security analyst, information technology auditor, network security engineer, or information assurance engineer.

“The need for professionals trained in cybersecurity increases every day, so this program will be a great asset to FCC and the community,” said Dr. Andy Yao, Cybersecurity Program Manager.  “The expected job growth and high median pay associated with a career in cybersecurity make this a very attractive option for students who want to play a vital role in protecting organizations against cyber threats and vulnerabilities.”

The program covers technologies, techniques, and tools required by the cybersecurity industry to identify and respond to threats in cyber systems. It prepares students to design, analyze, evaluate, and implement security controls in cyber environments.

Program classes include PC Repair and Diagnostics, Network Security Forensics and Audit, Ethical Hacking and Systems Defense, Cloud Security, and Disaster, Crisis, and Emergency Management.

The A.A.S. in Cybersecurity is one of more than 85 degree and certificate programs offered at FCC.
