Partnership with Harrisburg University Opens Doors for FCC Nursing Graduates
07/23/2020
Students who graduate from the Frederick Community College (FCC) nursing program can now earn a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing (BSN) from Harrisburg University of Science and Technology (HU) at a significantly reduced cost thanks to an agreement recently reached between the two institutions.

FCC students who complete an Associate in Science degree in nursing and/or pass the NCLEX licensing exam can enroll in the Harrisburg University RN-to-BSN program at half the cost of tuition.

“We are thrilled to partner with Frederick Community College to provide this opportunity to the college’s nursing students,” said Harrisburg University President Dr. Eric Darr. “This agreement provides a seamless transfer into HU’s nursing program and will help provide healthcare employers the trained and educated nurses they need.”

The HU RN-to-BSN program is an 18-month online program that builds on prior education and experience as a registered nurse with an associate degree or hospital diploma.

Students combine academic coursework with professional practice while completing the program. Coursework in evidence-based practice and science not only prepares students to meet every employer expectation for a BSN, but also preps nurses for a future graduate program. The practicum components include an emphasis on advocacy and provides students opportunities to gain practical experience in special interest areas.

“We are proud of our longstanding nursing program and the many strong students who graduate from it every year,” said FCC President Elizabeth Burmaster. “This new agreement with Harrisburg University gives our nursing graduates a great opportunity to continue their education and earn their bachelor’s degree at a discounted rate.”
