The Frederick Community College (FCC) Mid-Atlantic Center for Emergency Management & Public Safety (MACEM&PS) is celebrating 15 years of service educating, training, and serving a national public safety learning community. In recognition of this milestone, the MACEM&PS will hold a Partner Appreciation Day on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, from 9 a.m. to noon in Sweadner Hall on the FCC campus.

FCC’s Newest Employee Has Fur

This fall, Frederick Community College (FCC) welcomed its newest (and furriest) employee, bringing joy and comfort to students across campus! Diego (“Diggy”), a two-year-old golden retriever-black lab mix, joined the College as part of a pioneering facility dog program. This makes FCC the first community college in Maryland to establish such an initiative.

Repurposing the Frederick Community College (FCC) Children’s Center

Last night, FCC President Annesa Payne Cheek, announced to 19 employees and 50 families with 69 children enrolled, that effective May 16, 2025, the Carl and Norma Miller Children’s Center will permanently close after 30 years of service to the College and community.  Currently the Center’s parent patrons include 20 FCC student-parents, 12 FCC employee-parents and 18 parents who are members of the general community.

FCC Celebrates 66th Commencement on May 16 at Mount St. Mary’s University

Frederick Community College (FCC) will hold its 66th Commencement in celebration of the Class of 2024 on Thursday, May 16. For the first time ever, the ceremony will be held in the Knott Arena at Mount St. Mary’s University instead of the FCC Athletics Center. The new venue will allow for a larger number of friends, family, and graduates to celebrate together in one space.
